1798, 1848, 1898: Revolution, Revival and Commemoration

Organised by the Society for the Study of Nineteenth-Century Ireland at NUI, Cork, on 26-28 June 1998, this multidisciplinary conference will explore the nature, impact and legacy of the Irish revolutionary tradition and the ways in which insurgency is remembered and commemorated, both in Ireland and overseas. The conference themes may be addressed by contributors from the perspectives of history, geography, ideology, religion, race, gender, class, and representation in literature, music and the visual arts. The conference proceedings will be published; presentations not to exceed twenty minutes; title and abstract (not more than 100 words) before 31 March 1798 to:
