1986 At a Sinn Féin Árd Fheis, delegates voted to change the party’s constitution to allow members to sit in Dáil Éireann. Gerry Adams (37) was elected president. 1815  George Boole, the founder of pure mathematics and of computer science, first professor of mathematics at Queen’s College, Cork (1849), born in Lincoln.
